Splash Remembered

A favourite pony who roamed the paddocks of Marsden Valley. One night, during a fierce storm, he got stuck between two trees and died of a heart attack. Mark Cox of the Nelson Whakatu Menzshed has fashioned this beautifully made tribute…lest we forget. Thank you Mark.

Colin leads construction of these wicking planters which are taking Nelson by storm.

See where our Menzshed predator traps are being located.

Book Exchange

Peter (left) and Wayne set up the mini library at the Tahunanui Community. Hopefully this will be just one of many that the versatile men at the Nelson/Whakatu Menzshed will be making as the idea catches on. There are already several around Nelson made and erected by community spirited people. Will you be the next. Visit us on either Tuesday or Thursday morning for more details.

Many Hands

Over the last several weeks the Nelson/Whakatu Menzshed has been dedicated almost entirely to producing predator traps. Colin Johnstone has been the driving force ably assisted by volunteer members.

Book Stand

'Tashi Wallace made a bookstand for Peter McGowan. They became friends at the Nelson Whakatu Menzshed and now go cycling and rowing together.'

Extreme Outfits

The Martians have landed…no this is our regular guy Richard preparing to do the supermarket shopping. Not too many people will want to get near him so we are all safe.

Mark in the back garden

In his element, relaxing, scheming, plotting his next move… but first a sit-down and a morning cuppa accompanied by waffles and maple syrup…yum.

Just before

Lockdown

This is what Ian does to pass the time…lucky chap. Any guesses where this might be…? Nice bit of scroll work on your benches. Snapper for tea…need any help?

Knee Slider

New member Doug Lawrence and Wayne Logan with a little help from me, Colin, made these knee sliders for the rehabilitation department at Nelson Hospital. They’re used when you have knee replacements. You sit on a chair with the slider on the floor, put your heal into the V part and roll back and forth. This helps to strengthen the knee joint eventually allowing one to extend gradually passed a 90 degree bend . Quite cool.
(Actually Colin is being modest, he put a lot of effort into this and the three of them have produced a very professional article far superior to the original which they were asked to replicate. Robert)

Sam Broaddus from US of A is returning to Nelson on the 18th January. We look forward to meeting up again and sampling some of his seasonal cuisine.

North Dunedin

I was made very welcome when I visited a Dunedin Menzshed. From small beginnings this group of dedicated men have built up a superb working space well equipped with all manner of power tools and machines. Much community work is done and Bunnings have been very supportive assisting them with materials and discounted items. See the link to their Facebook Page. Thank you for your warm hospitality. Please visit us if you find yourself in Nelson.
